Music for the Soul-9/23/10

It’s been a while since my last music post. So sorry.

I have an artist I really love, Priscilla Ahn. She’s very indie, but her voice is lovely, and she’s not bemoaning lost love, so kudos to her. She’s not well known or very popular, but the people who do hear her songs end up becoming die-hard fans. This song, Wallflower, is catchy and faster-paced than her original song, Dream, which is lovely, but not really to my taste. Anyways, hear it, enjoy it, and maybe you’ll download it, and listen to it the next time you go drink coffee.

Double Post: Music for the Soul-6/17/10

Sorry about missing last week’s MFTS. So, to make it up, I have two songs for you, both of which I like very much.

This first one is something that had me annoying to heck out of all my friends. It’s so catchy and plainly describes my love for coffee and tea, and all things related. There are several different versions to it, but I like this “old jazz” one the best.

Lyrics:

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivin’ and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

I love java, sweet and hot
Whoops! Mr. Moto, I’m a coffee pot
Shoot me the pot and I’ll pour me a shot
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

Oh, slip me a slug from the wonderful mug
And I cut a rug till I’m snug in a jug
A slice of onion and a raw one, draw one.
Waiter, waiter, percolator!

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivin’ and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

Boston bean, soy bean
Lima bean, string bean.
You know that I’m not keen for a bean
Unless it is a cheery coffee bean.

Drop me a nickel in my pot, Joe, Takin’ it slow.
Waiter, waiter, percolator!

I love coffee, I love tea
I love the java jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the jivin’ and me
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup

Now, I’m not a particular fan of Spanish songs, but this one has a lovely melody, both in lyrics and tune. It’s simple and well aged, being a traditional folk-song. Since it is so old, it has plenty of other version and variations in lyrics, but I chose this one for it’s simplicity.

Lyrics:

English Trans:

     In colors, in colors
The fields are dressed in the spring.
     In colors, in colors
Are the little birds that come from outside.
     In colors, in colors
Is the rainbow that we see shining.

And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors
And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors.

The rooster sings, the rooster sings
With a cock-a-doodle, cock-a-doodle-doo.
     The hen, the hen
With a cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck.
     The chicks, the chicks
With a cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors.
And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors.

     In colors, in colors
Brilliant and delicate is dressed the dawn.
     In colors, in colors
Are the thousand gleams the sun treasures.
     In colors, in colors
Is dressed the diamond we see shining.

And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors.
And that is why I love
The great loves of many colors.

     Joyous, joyous
Let us live in grace since we can.
Let us quench, let us quench
The burning thirst of the King who does not die.
     Joyous, joyous
Let us bring to Christ a soul and thousand more.

     Spreading the light that illuminates
The divine grace from the great ideal.
     Spreading the light that illuminates
The divine grace from the great ideal.
